Thank you to all our customers many who have returned in this the 3rd season for us, in producing “Firewood”

We have extended our services into Full woodland management, with over 1000 trees being felled on a full thinning contract in the spring, this resulted in some very good Oak timber going to a joinery company.

http://www.gfmdovetail.co.uk/  to see some of the products produced from this Oak.

We then sold many loads to local Firewood companies, in time for this years season, we have 40 tonnes held back for ourselves, we just need time to cut and stack it !!

We were very pleased through the summer to supply some 2000 or so, Sweet Chestnut Stakes to the Wild Trout conservation trust, who used these to improve the state of a number of rivers in the country, do visit their web site to find out more.

Starting in the middle of May we will be producing "Charcoal" from the smaller of the woody products we have harvested over the past month's the ride maintenance thinning’s and some Oak Lop and Top.

We have one Kiln that takes roughly 48 hours to fill burn and empty of charcoal, this is situated at our depot deep in the heart of Hazelborough Forest. We supply this wholesale to an excellent selection of suppliers ensuring that at no time this product travelled more than 15 miles to get to your car boot! Our Charcoal is stocked at these local sites :- Crofts Stores, Silverstone, Paynes Nurseries, Blakesley Stores and Bell Plantation on the A5 with more sites looking to take this premium charcoal in 2012

Forest Recovery
Recover….With our investments in low impact machinery, to support our “Manual” recovery process, this will take quite a time, if you visit the woods you will hopefully slowly see the recovery process, as our stacks of timber grow. We will also at the same time, work to remove the damaged Oak, Ash and Birch saplings that have been wind blown or split. We will utilise a maximum of 80% of the materials, leaving standing, fallen timber of various sizes to provide a good habitat for the wildlife.
Recycle….Once the ”Bio Mass” is recovered we look to market this on. Some of the wood is in “Prime Condition” some is very much not. The prime wood we will grade into Softwood and Hardwood, sized for home log fires, which we will bag up, or store for delivery. In delivering we wish to remove from you the problem of collecting heavy, awkward and wet bags. So we will arrange a regular weekend delivery service, direct to your “Wood Store” these we can build for you! made from the best of the recovered wood.
As we develop our market we will invest further in the production of wood fuel pellets, these are proving to be an extremely economical way of utilizing the wood processing industries by products. The local timber merchants, the local tree surgeons and us, all produce residue and chippings, these can be efficiently turned into “pellets” for burning to produce heat and power.
